Sehriyar was commemorated in Eskisehir

The Second Conference on Pioneers of the Turkic World went on in  Eskisehir. The commemorative event organized by TURKSOY  and the Foundation of the Turkic World took place in the Anatolian University on February 17th, 2017. The conference hosted by the Anatolian University featured a presentation on the life and work of Muhammed Huseyin Sehriyar  by  Prof. Dr. Elman Guliyev from the State University of Pedagogical Studies of Azerbaijan.

The opening speeches of the conference were delivered by  TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov and the Rector of the  Anatolian University Prof. Dr. Naci Gundogan. In the speech he delivered prior to the conference, Secretary General Kasseinov stressed that TURKSOY and the Foundation of the Turkic World are two kindred organizations which carry out activities to foster the common cultural heritage of the Turkic World and said: "We are very happy to be holding the  Second Conference on Pioneers of the Turkic World. This is an event which we hold in TURKSOY Headquarters every month, but this time it is taking place somewhere else  for the first time. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Foundation of the Turkic World and the Anatolian University in Eskisehir which are the hosts of our event. Our mutual cooperation will be further pursued to promote our cultural heritage and contribute to the strengthening of ties of brotherhood among Turkic peoples.’’

The commemorative event went on with a presentation on the life and work of Muhammed Huseyin Sehriyar by Prof. Dr. Elman Guliyev from the State University of Azerbaijan for Pedagogical Studies, who is also the Director of the Center for Research on the Literature of Turkic Peoples. Prof. Dr. Guliyev who said that Sehriyar is a common cultural hertage of the entire Turkic World said: "Sehriyar always wanted to come to Turkey but he could not. Despite the fact that he is not among us physically, this event brought him to Turkey as we are commemorating him today. Greetings to Turkey, Greetings to the Turkic World, Greetings to  Sehriyar’’.

The commemorative event which gathered the Chairman of the Foundation of the Turkic World   Dr. Adnan Teksen along with scholars  and students of the Anatolian University  as well as the diaspora of Azerbaijan in  Eskisehir went on with a concert in which Yanar Sonmez performed songs composed on poems by  Sehriyar. At the end of the event, the Rector of the Anatolian University  Prof. Dr. Naci Gundogan handed over a plaquette to Prof. Dr. Elman Guliyev,  the artist  Yanar Sonmez  and the Chairman of the Foundation of the Turkic World Dr. Adnan Teksen.
