of our civilization to young generations. I hereby would like to pay tribute to Muhammed Huseyin Sehriyar who brought us all together here today on the 110th
anniversary of his death.’’ Ambassador
Kasseinov added: “Throughout his life, Sehriyar wrote his poems in
Azerbaijani Turkic language and Persian. His literary style always reflected
the influence of the city of Tabriz. Sehriyar who also is known as the master of Persian
poetry is not only the last but also the greatest representative of Persian classical
literature. Sehriyar often expressed
his nostalgic feelings about his homeland in Azerbaijani language, his mother
tongue. The poet was also influenced
by famous poets of Azerbaijan such as Molla Penah Vagif and Mirza Alekber
Sabir whom we have
dedicated our activities to this year. This poet is the common cultural heritage not only of Azerbaijan
but also of the whole Turkic World. Muhammed Huseyin Sehriyar is an Iranian, Azerbaijani and Turkic poet. He is a Pioneer
who will guide the entire World with the cultural heritage he left behind.’’
The conference which also featured poem readings and
folk song performances ended with a ceremony in which Ambassador Kasseinov
handed over the Medal of TURKSOY especially prepared for the Year of Yusuf
Khass Hajip to Prof. Dr. Elman Guliyev.
