Impressive Finale of the International Ballet Competition of Istanbul
The
Fifth International Ballet Competition of Istanbul held by the Directorate
General of the State Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Turkey and sponsored
by TURKSOY took place in Istanbul between July 8th-13th, 2016. The ballet
competition which aims at the promotion of the artistic image of Turkey by
opening up new horizons in the field of ballet on a global scale was held at
the Sureyya Opera of the Municipality of Kadıkoy with the contribution of artists from Ukraine,
Brazil, Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Russia, South Africa, Australia, Latvia,
Kazakhstan, Canada, South Korea and Turkey. The competition took place in two
categories being: young and adult - female and male.
The
First Prize of the Finale held on July 13th, 2016 went to Bahtiyar Adamzhan. While
Assel Askarova from Kazakhstan won the first prize of the category of adults/female,
Mehmet Batur Büklü from Turkey won the first prize of the category of adults/male. The
winner of the First Prize of the category of young female dancers was Oben
Yıldırım from Turkey, and the winner of the First Prize of the category of
young male dancers was Dimitri Vysubenko from Russia.
The Special Award of TURKSOY traditionally offered every year at
the competition went to Yılmaz Berkay Gunay from Turkey. TURKSOY Secretary
General Dusen Kaseinov who handed over the award to Yılmaz Berkay Gunay stressed the importance of this competition in
terms of the rapprochement of cultures and said that it is paramount to further
build cultural bridges among countries of the Turkic World.
Strong support from TURKSOY to the art of
ballet
For the third time this year, TURKSOY has been the main sponsor
of the International Ballet Competition of Istanbul held by the Directorate
General of the State Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Turkey since 2008. Thanks to this competition and festival, young
ballet dancers who are about to start a Professional career have had the
opportunity to do not only exchange views on their own performances as well as
on their future plans, but also benefit
from the valuable feedback of jury members with a view to widening their vision
and improve their artistic competence. Since its beginning, this festival and competition
encouraging the development of ballet education worldwide as well as the mutual
exchange of experience among institutions of ballet education has been taking
place with the contribution of a highly qualified jury gathering famous artists
who have gained international recognition in their respective fields of
activity.
