TURKSOY Secretary General visits Shaki, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2016
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov who was in Baku to attend the premiere performance of "And the Mill was Turning" by the famous Turkish playwright Haldun Taner organized a press conference on December 21st, 2015.
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov told journalists that Shaki was selected as Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2016 upon proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan at the 33rd Term Meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY held in Merv, Turkmenistan, between November 26th-28th, 2015 and gave them some information about the process.
During the press conference, TURKSOY Secretary General Kaseinov stressed that Shaki will be worthy of this prestigious title thanks to its cultural heritage and rich potential and gave further information as to events which will be carried out throughout the year within this framework.
The press conference also featured the presentation of "90 Poems of Bahtiyar Vahabzade in Turkic Languages" published in 2015 , as well as the presentation of the Second Theater Almanach of the Turkic World and the Catalogue of the 17th Painters' Gathering of TURKSOY held in Shaki last year prior to a session of questions and answers.
On the same day,TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov who attended the 10th Equestrian Festival organized by the office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the village of Dashuz near Shaki as its guest of honour also planted a peace tree in the garden of the Equestrian Center.
