Theater Directors of the Turkic World came together in the ancient city of Merv

The Fourth General Assembly meeting of Theater Directors of the Turkic World took place on October 8th-10th,2015 within the framework of events to celebrate Merv, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2015 

The meeting gathered  the Coordinator of the Board of  Directors of State Theaters of TURKSOY member countries, the Representative of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY  Mr. Elchin GAFARLI, the Director of the State Academic Drama Theater of Azerbaijan Israfil ISRAFILOV, the Art Director of the   S.Seyfullin Kazak Drama Theater of Karagandy, Kazakhstan Dunay YESPAYEV and the Director of the N.Janturin Music and Drama Theater  of Mangystau Nurniyaz MUKHANOV,  the Director of the Ankara State Theater  Cebrail ESEN,  the Assistant Director of the Ankara State Theater Abdullah ERKAN, the Art Director of the  M.Gafuri  State Academic Drama Theater of Bashkortostan (RF) Oleg HANOV, the Director of the  G.Kamal State Academic Drama Theater of  Tatarstan Ilfir YAKUPOV, the Art Director of the  P.Kuçiyak  Altai State Drama Theater  Emma IRISEVA, the Director of the “Chitigen” Khakas Drama and Ethnic Music Theater Vitaliy KANZYCHAKOV, the Director of the V.Kok-oola National Music and Drama Theater Stanislav IRIL, the Director of the D.Tanasoglu Gagauz State theater of  Moldova  Mihail KONSTANTINOV,  the Director General of the Alp Arslan National Drama Theater of Turkmenistan Handurdy BERDIYEV, the Director General of the Great  Saparmurad Drama Theater of Turkmenistan Kakajan ASHIROV, Tthe Director General of the Magtumguly National Music and Drama Theater of Turkmenistan  Amanmurad AYDOGDUYEV, the Director General of the  A. Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater of Turkmenistan Ashyrmuhammed RAHMANOV, the Director General of the State Puppet Theater of Turkmenistan Nurberdi HOCAYEV, Director General of the Great  Saparmurad State Drama Theater of Balkan, Turkmenistan Ovez TURSHEKOV, the Director General of the Seyitnazar Seydi State Music and Drama Theater  of Lebab, Turkmenistan Mekan SILAPOV, the Director General of the Kemine State Drama Theater of Merv, Turkmenistan Nurgeldi SOYUNOV, the Director General of the Molla Nepes Students' Theater  of Turkmenistan Merdan TUVELEYEV and the Director of the Theatre Department of the Ministry of Culture of  Turkmenistan Hazret OVEZOV.

The official opening ceremony of the meeting was held on October 8th, 2015  at the Kemine State Drama Theater of Merv. The opening event featured a wonderful concert with music and theater performances of artists from Turkmenistan. Later on, participants visited the exhibition featuring garments and settings used in theater performances of the Merv Theater.

The meeting was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Board of State Theater Directors of TURKSOY member countries 2015 and Director General of the  Alp Arslan State Drama Theater of Turkmenistan  Mr. Handurdy BERDIYEV who extended his gratitude to the International Organization of  Turkic Culture TURKSOY for its decision to hold the meeting in Merv and wished the Board as well as theatre ensembles of Turkey,  Kazakhstan and Tatarstan  success.

The Coordinator of the Board of State Theater Directors of TURKSOY member countries and Representative of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY Mr.  Elchin Gafarlı presented the activity report of the Board concerning decisions met by the Board in its previous meeting. Mr. Gafarli who also stressed that this meeting is being held in Merv, the Cultural Capital of Turkmenistan upon the decision of the Permanent Council of Ministers of TURKSO which met in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan in November last year said that the year 2015 has been dedicated to the commemoration of the Turkish playwright  on the occasion ot the 100th anniversary of his birthday.

Members of the Board of State Theater Directors of TURKSOY member countries presented reports on activities carried out in their respective countries in the field of theater. The opening speeches were followed by short performances by artists from  Turkmenistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Tatarstan.

On October 9th, 2015 the Fourth Meeting of the Board of State Theater Directors of TURKSOY member countries went on in the State Museum of  Merv.

Participants talked about actvities carried out in their respective countries in the field of theater and extended their gratitude to TURKSOY for its active support, suggestions and contribution and stressed the fact that international theater festivals of Turkic speaking countries must be further carried out to enhance the exchange of experience and cooperation.

Participants of the Fourth Meeting of the Board of State Theater Directors of TURKSOY member countries, also extended their  congratulations to  the Director of the V.Kok-oola National Music and Drama Theater  of the Tyva Republic  Stanislav Iril on the occasion of its 80th anniversary as well as to the Director of the   “Chitigen” Khakas Drama and Ethnic Music Theater Vitaliy Kanzichakov on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.

At the meeting, members of the Board of State Theater Directors of TURKSOY member countries who discussed the items on the agenda  exchanged their views and approved the Final Declaration.

The Closing Ceremony of the Fourth Meeting of Theater Directors of the Turkic World took place on October 10th, 2015. At the ceremony held in the Kemine State Drama Theater in Merv all participants were handed over  their Certificate of  Participation.

The theatre performances held in Merv on October 8th-10th, 2015  featured  colourful plays such as Haldun Taner's "I close my eyes and do what I have to do" performed by the State Theater of  Ankara, S.Kudaybergenov's "Maternity Hospital" performed by the Nurmuhan Janturin Music and Drama Theater of the Province of Mangistau, Kazakhstan, Tuncar Cucenoglu's "Snowslide" performed by the  Sabir Amutbayev Menzelin State Drama Theater of Tatarstan  and the play "Melik Sah" performed by the Kemine State Drama Theater of  Merv, Turkmenistan.

Participants of the above-mentioned meeting extended their gratitude to the President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov as well as to the Ministry of Culture of  Turkmenistan, the Governing authorities  of the city of  Merv and the Kemine State Drama Theater of  Merv for their hospitality during the  Fourth Meeting of the Board of State Theater Directors of TURKSOY member countries,  which gathered high-level representatives from all contributing countries.
