Establishment of the Union of Music Education of the Turkic World
The Union of Music
Education of the Turkic World was established in Ankara upon initiative of
TURKSOY and MUZED. While TURKSOY Secretary General Düsen
Kasienov was elected Chairman of the Union, the Chair of the Faculty of Fine
Arts Education of the Abant Izzet Baysal University Prof. Dr. Ugur
Alpagut who is also responsible for international relations within MUZED was
elected as the Secretary General of the Union. The Honorary Chairman of
the Union of Music Education of the Turkic World will be Prof. Ali Ucan.
The Board of Management of the Union will be comprised of one rector from each
member country.
The meeting held on April 3rd, 2015 in the Headquarters of the Internstional Organization of Turkic Culture in Ankara gathered rectors and musicologists from TURKSOY member countries. At the meeting which took place in the presence of the Rector of the Abant Izzet Baysal University Prof. Dr. Hayri Coşkun, the Rector of the National Conservatory of Azerbaijan Siyavush Kerimi, the Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Fine Arts Farah Aliyeva, the Rector of the Kalıy Moldobasanov Kyrgyz National Conservatory Muratbek Begaliyev and the Dean of the Kazan State University of Culture and Arts of Tatarstan RF Alsu Enikeeva, participants discussed various issues and shortcomings as well as steps to be taken in order to overcome these difficulties. The aim of the Union of Music Education established in the meeting will be to foster cooperation among Turkic Republics in the field of music education.
The Union gathers Directors of some major conservatories of Turkey along with the Director of the State Conservatory of the Ankara University Prof. Cetin Aydar, the Director of the Conservatory of the Istanbul Technical University for Turkish Classical Music Prof. Adnan Koc, the Chairman of MUZED Mr. Refik Saydam, and Mr. Dogan Cakar representing the Director of HÜADK.
While the meeting started with the promotional video of TURKSOY and went on with opening speeches delivered by TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov and the Rector of the Abant Izzet Baysal University Hayri Coskun, participants expressed their wish as to the newly founded Union's contribution to the strengthening of brotherhood and solidarity among its members with a view to establishing a common university for music education in the near future.
The speeches delivered by rectors who attended the meeting were followed by a vote as a result of which the Founding Chairman, Secretary General and Founding Agreement of the Union were approved.
The meeting ended on a musical note with a concert of the Orfeon Chamber Choir under its conductor and State Artist of Azerbaijan Mrs. Elnara Kerimova. As the amateur choir with the longest history to date, the ORFEON Chamber which has been existing for 21 years now, gave yet another wonderful concert featuring colourful arrangements of various folk songs.
