Poem-lovers of Azerbaijan came together at TURKSOY Headquarters
On October 14th, 2014, a promotional conference on the book entitled "Contemporary Poems of Azerbaijan” was held at TURKSOY Headquarters. The book has been published by the NGO "Turkic World Info" thanks to the Council of Financial State Support of Azerbaijani NGOs within the framework of a project aiming at the "Promotion of Contemporary Poetry of Azerbaijan. While the advisory editor of the book is Prof. Dr. Nizami Ceferov, the Director of the Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan and MP of Azerbaijan, its editor is Osman Bas and its project coordinator is the Chief Editor of the Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan Deyanet Osmanly. The book is a collection of selected poems by famous Azerbaijani poets and authors of the 1990ies.
The conference took place in the presence of representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan along with poets, authors and scholars from various state institutions and NGOs of Turkey.
The Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY Mr. Elchin Gafarli who greeted the participants on behalf of TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov stressed the importance attached by the International Organization of Turkic Culture to literature also mentioning that the year 2014 was dedicated to the commemoration of the famous Turkmen poet Magtumguly Pyragy and the famous Kyrgyz poet Toktogul Satylganov by TURKSOY. On this occasion Mr. Gafarli also expressed his happiness about the fact that the promotional conference of this book is held in TURKSOY Headquarters.
The Project Coordinator Deyanet Osmanlı who also took the floor at the conference expressed his gratitude to TURKSOY for hosting the conference and gave detailed information about the project as well as about the 14 poets some of whose poems he also read.
The editor of the book Osman Bas expressed his views about the project and recited Bahtiyar Vahabzade’s poem "Azerbaijan-Turkey” and Ekber Goshali’s poem "Karabakh”.
The Director of the Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan Mr. Ekber Goshali who is also a poet himself shared his views about the project with the audience and extended his gratitude to TURKSOY for its valuable support, before reciting some of his poems published in the book.Throughout the conference, all participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas while also listening to the poem readings.
At the end of the conference, the book "Contemporary Poems of Azerbaijan”was offered to all participants. Furthermore, certificates of appreciation were distributed to some of the participants on behalf of the NGO "Turkic World Info” and of the Association of Young Turkic Authors of the World in recognition of their contribution to the promotion of contemporary literature of Azerbaijan in Turkey. A group photograph was taken as a remebrance of the day.
