TURKSOY Press Awards
The International Organizatin of Turkic Culture
(TURKSOY) carries out cultural activities worldwide in order to promote and preserve Turkic culture and art throughout generations.
Within this framework, TURKSOY which was founded in 1993 by the Ministers of Culture of Turkic Speaking Countries, has since then been organizing Nowruz celebrations, gatherings of painters, photographers, sculptors and authors of the Turkic World along with exhibitions, concerts, theatre and opera festivals as well as academic symposia.
TURKSOY believes that the press and information media has a key role to play in announcing these events and activities to the public in order to help dispel prejudices about the Turkic World. The International Organizatin of Turkic Culture therefore offers TURKSOY Press Awards to journalists of the Turkic World in recognition of their precious contribution to the promotion of Turkic culture.
TURKSOY Press Awards 2014 were handed over to their winnersin a ceremony held at the Anatolian University of Eskisehir on March 20th, 2014 within the framework of closing events of Eskisehir, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2013.
Kazan will be the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2014
Upon decision of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY, a photography exhibition was opened within the framework of the award ceremony held on March 20th, 2014 in order to introduce Kazan the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2014. The opening ceremony of this exhibition was attended by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Turkey Nabi Avcı, the Governor of Eskisehir
Gungor Azim Tuna and TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov along with representatives of the press media of various countries.
