Artists from TURKSOY member countries have once again enchanted the audience at the event held in the USA within the framework of traditional Nowruz Celebrations of TURKSOY.

This year, the celebrations held in Washington and New York featured performances of artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.

The  Fifth Gala Dinner of the Nowruz Commission chaired by Nasser Kazeminy and gathering Ambassadors of  Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan to the USA as its members  took place in Washington on March 15^th, 2014. This year's Gala Dinner took place in the presence of TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kaseinov whob has been a member of the commission since its establishment along with representatives of Embassies in Washington, as well as members of congress and senior guests.

The artistic programme which started with a performance of the Silk Road Dance Group gathering artists of the USA, went on with a show of musicians and dancers from  Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Turkmenistan and Turkey invited by TURKSOY.

TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov who delivered an opening speech at the event stressed the fact that  the Nowruz Feast is a tradition which brings people together, and offered a statue especially designed by TURKSOY based on the Oghuz Khan Legend and featuring the message: "Unity for Peace and Prosperity"  to Mr.  Kazeminy and Bijan R. Kian. 

At the Fifth Gala Dinner of the Nowruz Commission, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov also handed over the 20th Anniversary Medal of TURKSOY to the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Washington H.E. Namık Tan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan  to Washington  H.E. Kairat Umarov and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to Washington H.E. Muktar Djumaliyev in recognition of their support and contribution to TURKSOY's activities in Washington.

Within the framework of their official visit to Washington, TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kaseinov and TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General  Fırat Purtaş met with the State Department Official  Henry Wooster at the White House.

At the meeting, TURKSOY Secretary General  Kaseinov who talked about activities carried out by the International Organization of Turkic Culture in the field of cultural diplomacy said that March 21^st  was officially declared as International Nowruz Feast by the UN General Assembly. Mr. Kasseinov who also said that the celebration message conveyed by the President of the USA  is a testimony of the importance he attaches to this traditional feast, handed over the statue featuring the message "Unity for Peace and Prosperity" to Mr. Wooster who took it over on behalf of the  President of the USA Barack Obama.
