Ali OZAYDIN Was Commemorated by His Artist Friends
Ali OZAYDIN, the great artist, who passed away four months ago was commemorated on November 1st, 2011 at the Ankara Youth Park.
The commemoration event was held with a very large participation of artists and TURKSOY representatives. The commemoration event was organized by the Association of Culture and Art of the Turkic World which had been founded and was presided by the late Ali OZAYDIN with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey.
The event featured performances by the State Polyphonic Choire of the Republic of Turkey, the Ankara State Choire of Turkish Folk Music, the Music Ensemble of the Turkic World and the Ankara State Choire of Classical Turkish Music along with the guest artists Ciltis TANNAGASEVA, Arslanbek SULTANBEKOV, Bunyamin AKSUNGUR, Kaya KUZUCU and Ufuk OZYURT. The colourful event also featured dance performances and a slide show.
The Commemoration of the late Ali OZAYDIN which attracted strong interest took place in the presence of TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Firat Purtas, TURKSOY Unit Director Sancar MULAZIMOGLU and Representatives of TURKSOY member countries.
At the end of the event, the son and daughter of Ali OZAYDIN handed over plaquettes to all those who contributed to the commemoration.
On this occasion, we would like to once again honour the memory of Ali OZAYDIN who was an exceptional artist …

WHO IS ALI OZAYDIN?
Ali OZAYDIN who is registered in Tarsus was born in Adana in 1961. In 1981 he met Ass. Prof. Rahmi Oruc GUVENC while he was doing his military service. He got acquainted with the diversity of Turkic World instruments for the first time through the Turkic Music Research and Promotion Ensemble (TUMATA).
He started his first studies in the workshop of the ensemble where these instruments were being made. In 1984 together with Guner Ozkan, the Director of the Konya Culture and Tourism Directorate he founded the ASTUM Music Ensemble (from Asia to Turkey) and gave more than 100 concerts with the latter until 1988.
In 1990 he opened a workshop at the Ankara Ataturk Cultural Centre where he gave courses on the manufacturing of Turkic music instruments during three semesters and made a few improvements on some of these instruments. During the same period he initiated the foundation of an ensemble named the Silk Road which gave concerts both in the country and abroad.
Ali OZAYDIN who pursued his studies at the Social and Strategic Research Foundation founded the ALTINAY ensemble in 1994 with which he worked together until 2000. He also participated in many television programs during this period such as "Selam Olsun” (Be Greeted) broadcasted on TRT, prepared and presented by Yagmur Tunali where he worked as a counsellor.
He also worked as a counsellor for the "Calgi Atolyesi” (Instrument Workshop) composed of 52 parts, prepared by the Fatma Muheyye USLU and the Television Channel of Izmir and participated himself as a performing artist in 4 parts of this workshop broadcasted on television.
In 2000 he founded the Turkic World Music Ensemble of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey under Art Director Irfan GURDAL by merging the Ipekyolu Music Ensemble and the Altinay Music Ensemble worked as its Managing Director.
In 2002 he launched the foundation of the Association of Turkic World Culture and Art. In 2007 he started to work as Chairman of this Association. Ali OZAYDIN pursued his work on future projects until the last days of his life.
