21st International Eurasian Culture Festival of Ahlat

The "21st International Eurasian Culture Festival of Ahlat” organized in Ahlat/Bitlis started on August 23rd, 2011 with performances by a janissary band and a folk dance troupe.

The participants to the 21st International Eurasian Culture Festival of Ahlat were TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Firat Purtas, the Governor of Bitlis Nurettin Yılmaz, the Governor of Mus Ali Cinar, the Rector of the Bitlis Eren Univeristy Prof. Mahmut Dogru, the District Governor of Ahlat Osman Dolek, the Mayor of Ahlat A.Mumtaz Coban, the Mayor of Adilcevaz Adnan Gursoy along with citizens of Ahlat.

Within the framework of the festivities a garland was laid down at the Statue of Ataturk in front of the Courthouse of Ahlat and the participants walked to the Seljuq Plaza where folk dances were performed along with a show by the janissary band of Malatya. Later on the 21st International Eurasian Culture Festival of Ahlat was opened.

After the show and the opening speeches, the "Painting Exhibition of TURKSOY” comprised of paintings by famous artists who came to Ahlat within the framework of the "14th Painting Artists’ Gathering of TURKSOY” was inaugurated at the Seljuq Cultural Centre. The "Painting Exhibition of TURKSOY” which depicted historical monuments and cultural values of Ahlat was extremely appreciated by the participants.
