Comrat Has Celebrated its 15th Anniversary of Autonomy
At the end of December capital city of Gagauzia, Republic of Moldova, has celebrated its 15th anniversary of autonomy. On the opening ceremony of the arrangement Prime Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat and Gagauzia Governor Mikail Formuza made a speech to people of Gagauzia. In his speech M. Formuza stated about effort, daring and nobility of Gagauzians, besides he expressed his gratitude for bloodless, peaceful and definite result to ethnic conflict lasting for the past 15 years.
Furthermore, on the
anniversary there were present respected guests as, ex-President of Moldova
Mirca Snegur and Petr Lucinski, 9th President of Turkish Republic Suleyman
Demirel, Secretary-General of TURKSOY Dusen Kaseinov and representatives of
Embassy in Kishinev.
Mr. Formuza,
delivered "Gagauzia -15 years old” medals to activists of National Movement and
13th term Moldova parliament members, declaring Gagauzia an autonomous entity
in December 23, 1994 by accepting a law with absolute majority voting. This
medal was also received by ex-President of Moldova and Secretary-General of
TURKSOY, an International organization of Turkic culture. After affirming that
Gagauzia is one of the most active member states, D. Kaseinov expressed
gratitude for their contributions and support to International organization of
Turkic culture.
Opening ceremony of
eminent people busts display like, Gagauz scientist Maria Marunovic, Moldovan
poet Mikail Eminesk, ex-President of Azerbaijan Haydar Aliyev and prominent
Russian poet Aleksandr Sergeyevich Pushkin on Central Square of the capital
city of Gagauzia and 9th President of Turkish Republic Suleyman Demirel, whose
bust was also exhibited, become an important event of the anniversary
celebrations.
