140th anniversary of the birthday of Barpy Alykulov commemorated in Kyrgyzstan
In accordance with the decision of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY, commemorative events dedicated to the the 140th anniversary of the birthday of the famous poet of Kyrgyzstan Barpy Alykulov are being further carried out in the Turkic World.
An event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birthday of the poet Barpy Alykulov was held in the city of Calal-Abad on September 23rd, 2024 .
The commemorative ceremony gathered the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov, the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Khalal-Abad region Tilek Tekebayev, MPs, the Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Altynbek Maksutov, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture TURKSOY Sultan Raev and opinion leaders from different regions of Kyrgyzstan.
In the speech he delivered at the ceremony, Akylbek Japarov stressed that the 140th anniversary of Barpi Alykulov is a great celebration for the Kyrgyz language and literature in particular and for the universal human culture in general. Stating that Barpy Alykulov's poems, which can be considered timeless, have not lost their significance today, Caparov said that in recent years the region and the city of Calal-Abad have achieved significant growth in terms of socio-economic and infrastructure, and that major projects in the region will be implemented in the near future.
Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev who also took the floor at the event noted that the poet's poems and civic stance remain relevant today, and that Barpi Alikulov therefore fully deserves to be honoured as one of the founders of Kyrgyz classical poetry.
Secretary General Raev also stressed that events dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birthday of Barpy Alykulov will be held in Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries of the Turkic World throughout 2024. ‘The events centred on the artistic personality and works of the great poet, who had the ability to sing poems that were ahead of their time, new at the time they were written and timeless after a hundred years, will continue throughout 2024. TURKSOY will fulfil its duty in this regard.’
All eight districts within the administrative borders of the Calal-Abad region participated in the event, where each region had the opportunity to introduce its own culture to many guests especially those from abroad in traditionally decorated Kyrgyz tents.
