The Festival of Turkistan will take place between November 7th-11th, 2017

Within the framework of their mutual cooperation, the International Organization of Turkic Culture - TURKSOY and the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World - UEATW held a meeting on the preparation of the Festival which is to take place in Turkistan in November this year.
The meeting which took place in TURKSOY Headquarters gathered TURKSOY Secretary General Prof. Dusen Kasseinov, the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY, Prof.Dr. Fırat Purtaş and the Secretary General of the UEATW Ilyas Demirci along with other senior officials.
In the meeting, participants agreed upon the fact that the Festival of Turkistan and the Symposium on Cities of the Turkic Islamic World shall take place in Turkistan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017. The aim of the afore-mentioned symposium will be to explore and introduce the historical heritage, spiritual values, architecture, art and literature of cities of the Turkic World which bare the traces of Turkic islamic culture and civilization to the world.
In the speech he delivered at the Secretary General of the UEATW Mr. Ilyas Demirci stressed the importance of TURKSOY for the UEATW and expressed his wish as to the continuation of the fruitful cooperation between both organizations. In the meeting, participants agreed upon the fact that the "Festival of Turkistan" to be held within the framework of "Cultural Capitals of the Turkic World" and "Cities of the Turkic Islamic World from Kashgar to Andalusia" shall take place between November 7th-11th, 2017 in Turkistan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017.
Upon decision of the selection committee of the International Mimar Sinan Project Competition organized by the UEATW, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov once again received the "Prize of Design and Idea Project" of the UEATW for TURKSOY's initiative regarding the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World".
-Cultural Capital of the Turkic World-
The initiative to declare one city of the Turkic World as its Cultural Capital was launched in 2010 at the 10th Summit of the Heads of States of Turkic Speaking Countries upon suggestion of TURKSOY. Within this framework, cities of the Turkic World which were declared as its cultural capital were the city of Astana in Kazakhstan in 2012, the city of Eskisehir in Turkey in 2013, Kazan, the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Tatarstan (RF) in 2014, the city of Merv in Turkmenistan in 2015, the city of Sheki in Azerbaijan in 2016 and the city of Turkistan in Kazakhstan in 2017.
