Let me also extend my sincere gratitude to TURKSOY for bringing together scholars and institutions of Turkey contributing to the development of the Turkic World through their activities.’’
The keynote speaker of the conference held in TURKSOY Headquarters was Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bican Ercilasun. Prof. Dr. Ercilasun also said that he goes along with Nursultan Nazarbayev’s idea about the modernization of peoples based on their own national codes and added: ''In this article, Mr. Nazarbayev criticizes the patronizing character of Western modernization in the 20th century and stressed the importance of national codes in this process. According to Prof. Dr. Ercilasun , scholars of the Turkic World are entrusted with very important missions in this regard and it is the primary duty of us all to lay the foundations of requirements mentioned in this paper through our own scientific and academic work. As often stressed by Mr. Nazarbayev, the modernization of conscience must take place before the modernization of actions. This idea is also in perfect accordance with the motto we often express, namely that of “Unity in Language, Ideas and Actions.”
The conference was followed by a ceremony during which medals of TURKSOY dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties among Turkic republics and to the Year of Yusuf Khass Hajip were handed over to their owners.
