Symposium on Turkistan and Turcology

The symposium on Turkistan and Turcology was held in Turkistan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017. The symposium took place at the Akhmet Yassawi University on March 21st, 2017 following the opening event of the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017.

The symposium held in the Cultural Center on the campus of the Akhmet Yassawi University  gathered TURKSOY Secretary General, Ambassador  Dusen Kasseinov, the Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Muhameduly, the Deputy Undersecretary of the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of  Turkey  R. Ozbilgic, the Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov, the Governor of Southern Kazakhstan  Prof. Dr. Janseyit Tuymebaev, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the  Akhmet Yassawi University Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, the President of the Turkic Academy  Prof. Dr. Darhan Kydyrali, the Rector of the University of Ordu  Prof. Dr. Tarık Yarılgaç, the Director of the Higher Instution of Culture Language and History named after Ataturk Prof. Dr. Derya Ors, the Deputy Director of the Institution of Turks Living Abroad and Kindred Peoples Sayit Yusuf, the Director of TIKA in Charge of Central Asian and Caucasian Countries  Ali Ozgun Ozturk, the Secretary General of TURKPA  Jandos Asanov, the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Abzal Saparbekuly, the famous Kazak poet and author Muhtar Shahanov along with many scholars and guests.

The Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Muhameduly wished all attendees of the General session of the symposium a happy Nevruz and stressed the importance of  the city of Turkistan for the Turkic World. Muhammeduly who first read the message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev extended the Certificate of Outstanding Merit to  TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dr. Dusen Kasseinov.
Arystanbek Muhameduly further said that this symposium will be a strong contribution to the exploration and transmission of the common history, language, literature, culture and art of the Turkic World to future generations.

The Governor of Southern Kazakhstan  Prof. Dr. Janseyit Tuymebaev who was the moderator of the symposium said that  such activities are key to the revival of the cultural integration of peoples sharing a common language, religion and ancestry  and stressed the importance of this integration while also giving some information on the actual status thereof.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the  Akhmet Yassawi University Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız who delivered a speech at the general session  expressed his happiness as to the selection of Turkistan as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic Worldn 2017  and wished a happy Nevruz to everyone. Prof. Dr. Yıldız ended his speech extending his gratitude to all those who contributed to the organization of the symposium on  Turkistan and Turcology.

In the roudtable meeting held following the general session, Prof. Dr. Janseyit Tuymebaev extended his gratitude to representatives of the Turkic World for having come to the symposium and gave them the floor. TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kaseinov also extended his gratitude to participants for their contribution to the symposium offered them a souvenir as a remembrance of the day.

At the event, the President of the Turkic Academy  Prof. Dr. Darkhan Kydyrali extended the Gold Medal of the Turkic Academy to  TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dr. Dusen Kasseinov.

The Symposum on Turkistan and Turcology featured 4 sessions during which  60 scholars from 20 countries presented their papers on language, literature, folklore, religion, philosophy, history and archeology. All sessions raised great interest among the audience, and scholars were asked many questions about various aspects of their papers. At the end of the symposium, group photographs of scholars were taken as a remembrance the day.
